Ayce Cordy is a mobile 202cm ruck man which the Western Bulldogs grasped under the father-son selection as a first round draft pick. Ayce’s father Brian played 124 games for Footscray between 1981-1988 allowing for the father-son rule to take place.
An AIS Academy graduate, Ayce did not play much footy in his final year for either Geelong College or the Geelong Falcons due to a shoulder injury he suffered early on in the season. Unfazed that this injury would inhibit his draft potential, Ayce went in for shoulder surgery in June and set his sights on having a strong pre-season with the Western Bulldogs debut year.
Drafted as an athletic mobile ruckman, who has agility similar to a on-baller, Ayce’s ability also sees him playing up forward where he has great acceleration off the mark with very strong hands.
Benefiting from the pre-selection to the draft, Ayce joined the Bulldogs on their pre-season camp to Arizona which provided a hude learning curve in his development as well as the chance to mix with his new team mates.
Ayce and the Bulldogs will look to develop his body this year, where he will look to initially start at Williamstown before progressing to the senior side during the season.
Outside of Football Ayce had a very successful year at school finishing his VCE with an ENTER of 97.4 where he hopes to do Biomedicine at Melbourne University. Ayce also capped of this impressive score by taking out the Year 12 Biology Prize and the Macfarlane Burnet Prize for science and biology.
