Ghawazi Caravan is an innovative, Tribal Style Belly Dance Company founded in 2000 by artistic director Devi Mamak. Ghawazi Caravan's eclectic mix of dance styles from around the world combines both the contemporary and the ancient.
Dancing together as one using exciting props and formations, we fuse our influences in a maze of colour and energy to capture our audiences in amazement. We represented Australia at the 2004 Tribal Fest in California and have been sort after Nationally and locally for many Festivals, Corporate/private Functions and workshops.
There are 11 Ghawazi Caravan troupe members at this present time. We perform as a full troupe or in smaller numbers with a minimum of two dancers, depending on the event. All our costumes are hand made with jewellry and fabrics from countries such as Central Asia, India, North Africa and the Middle East with our own pesonal life's journey collecting pieces along the way. The music we perform to also crosses the globe with a blend of our own Australian culture, either by CD or with live musicians.
