David Kirsner (also known as Dekdrum) plays live percussion alongside DJs, intertwining exciting beats with recorded sounds. His act is highly energetic and interactive, slapping the skins like there’s no tomorrow!
Dekdrum fuses styles across all genres of music from current dance floor hits to Latin inspired grooves to classic hits from the 60s.

Dekdrum has been playing percussion for 16 years and specialising in interactive percussion since 2006.
David’s determination to inspire others to dance was born when he first played bongos in primary school and his music teacher got up and began to Salsa dance, his determination to inspire others to dance was born. Since then, he has performed in orchestras, big bands, session work, professional concerts, jazz shows,festivals and in concerts all through his schooling. Dekdrum has played up to 11 gigs in a single week, and performs weekly at top corporate events, wedding venues and nightclubs.
Dekdrum’s set-up features two striking high-end conga drums, bongos, African drums and an array of hand percussion instruments.
Dekdrum will provide a high-energy experience like no other. Another unique feature of the Dekdrum experience has David teaching your guests how to play his drums right on the dance floor! The dance floor is visually stimulating and full at every function. Dekdrum is highly interactive and moves amongst the crowd, on occasion, creating excitement and showing his passion.
Recent highlights include: Spring Racing Cup Carnival Marquee @ Flemington Racecourse for Johnnie Walker, Etihad Stadium (for two corporate clients) multiple corporate and wedding events for big name clients, and after-parties for celebrity tours to Australia (Justin Timberlake, Sydney Olympics Official Closing Ceremony Melbourne After party, Tyga After party, Pitbull show after party, Dekdrum has also worked with sporting, modeling, charity and fitness clients including ModelMode, fashion shows for multiple clients, Body Canvas Festival (body painting fused with fashion festival), Zumba (for the largest Zumbathon in the Southern Hemisphere) , Dance Dynamics (filming for D.D. fitness videos), Large Chanukah & Xmas events (some playing to over 1000 people) Barmitzvahs (at venues including Trak Showroom and a number of respected function centres), , boat cruises, interstate and overseas tours as well as New Years Eve parties (performed for nearly 2000 people)
Dekdrum has a career which spans seven years working with many top nightclubs and hot spots including Trak Showroom, Crown Casino, Wah Wah Lounge, Marrakech Cocktail Lounge, Fabrique Nightclub, Bond Lounge, Tryst, Alumbra, CQ Hotel, Eden, La Di Da, Watermark, The Station Hotel, Entertainment Complex, Shed 14, and Copacabana for various parties, Latin nights and themed events. Dekdrum has held down regular club events for up to two years! – an achievement for any musician!
As a performer, Dekdrum plans to continue entertaining and wowing crowds. He also hopes to record a new album continue teaching youth drums and also develop a DVD teaching drums for beginners.
