Watar/ وَتَر translates to a few different things in Arabic, but to us it means “string”. We found each other through deep love for our culture and the music we grew up listening to, bonded through a string of traditions and values bringing individual experiences. Watar creates a safe space for artists to express themselves through music. The songs we’ve chosen for our repertoire serve as a vehicle for storytelling, evoking the emotions and stories from our heritage in a chill setting, we’re so excited to share this safe space with our community, to gather and connect.
The Watar Ensemble will take us through a musical journey, performing pieces old and new that are born from both beauty and struggle. This night is a space to come together to support our refugee community and contribute to a future where everyone can find safety and belonging. Songs we perform include:
Lamoony
Ahwak
Ya Msafer Wahdak
Batwanes Beek
Youma Mwel el Hawa
Wain 3a Ramallah
Nouh El Hamam
Ya zaref el toul
Tallou Hbabna
and more...
We are always keen to learn more songs based on your event requirement and vibe.
Please reach out to book or discuss.
