Selene y su Quimba is a nine-piece Latin American band dedicated to performing at clubs, private parties and corporate functions. The popular Latin styles performed include Salsa/Timba, Merengue, Cha-Cha, Lambada. The members of Selene y su Quimba come from a range of diverse cultural backgrounds including Australia, Chile, Bolivia and Peru. Many of the members of the group have completed studies or are currently studying at the Australian National University School of Music.
The Peruvian members of the band have been performing from a very young age (3 years old) in Peru and Australia. Selene y su Quimba has performed in front of over 10,000 spectators at major public events such as the Canberra 2003/04/05/06 Floriade festival, Multicultural festival as well as the Darling Harbour and Bacardi Festivals in Sydney. In the ACT they have performed to packed houses at most of the major clubs including The Hellenic club, The Italo Australian club,
The Gypsy Bar and The Pavilion Hotel. Partygoers at The old Parliament House and the Tuggeranong and Gunghalin Festivals have also had the privilege of been entertained by one of Canberra's most popular Latin American bands. This band has performed for many private functions including weddings, birthdays, New Years Eve's clubs and private parties.
