Caroline Davis – Jazz Vocalist
Unlike most vocalists, Caroline started her musical life as a classical flautist. She played her way through high school at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Music from the University of Sydney. However, she soon discovered that she had a passion and talent for jazz vocal performance, and after spending a year in Boston at Northeastern University focusing on this genre, has poured all her efforts and musical expertise into becoming the sensation she is today.
Caroline has a unique ability to engage audiences with her choice of repertoire and her innate sense of musicality. Her influences include Anita O’Day, Blossom Dearie, Dave Frishberg, Chick Corea, Dianne Reeves, Irene Kral, Bob Dorough, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Shirley Horn. Her greatest teachers include Joy Yates, Tisha Stadnicki, Bill Lowe, and Kate Dunbar.
Caroline has a huge range of repertoire, and has mastered a diverse range of jazz styles. She can belt out a blues, swing with a big band, or delight with a bossa, and always with her distinctive style and grace. With a song for every occasion, Caroline is a dynamic personality who has performed at many venues across Sydney including: the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Jazz Café, Soup Plus, The Sydney Opera House, Jazushi, Bar Me (The Old El Rocco Jazz Cellar), and More’s Café to name a few.
